Debranne Cingari has always found inspiration for her photographs in the places and people she loves, fueled by a natural wanderlust, childlike curiosity, and deep appreciation for the beauty around her. Over the past three decades, the stylistic range of her work has included traditional landscapes, provocative figurative series, inventive collages and textural photographs, and forays into assemblage and mosaic works. Cingari is constantly exploring different media and techniques in art that is often autobiographical and always evocative.
Her newest body of work called Words in the Sky celebrates the playfulness that has long been a signature element of her oeuvre. Cingari combines beautiful landscapes, seascapes, and cloudscapes from storied East Coast destinations like Nantucket, Miami, Palm Beach, and the Hamptons, with humorous or heartwarming messages trailed from biplanes. Some of the photographs feature glimpses of paradise recognizable to those in the know. Others present messages in an endless sky which speak to a shared human experience that transcends location. Central to the series is the idea of looking up, and embracing the challenges of life with love and laughter.
Cingari’s 2024 releases include an expansion of the Words in the Sky series with a special focus on Nantucket and the Hamptons, as well as more abstract explorations of form and color in her horseshoe crab series, and a new addition to her lighthouse triptych collection. The artist has exhibited her work in museums and galleries across the country and is the recipient of numerous awards.
