About the Item
Jean-Michel’s L’Arc de Triomphe Wrapped, 2021 is a contemporary experimental color photograph of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris wrapped in fabric in Paris by Christo. The art duo Christo and Jeanne-Claude dreamt of adding the wrapping of the French monument to their list of conceptual projects realized worldwide. With 16 days, Sep 18 - Oct 3, 2021, allotted for the project in the City of Light, the arch commissioned by Napoleon in nineteenth century Paris was transformed by the two modern visionaries: wrapped in silvery-blue fabric and red rope the arch represents a salute to the grandiose, beautiful, and perhaps the ephemeral nature of both. French photographer JM documents the monument using a signature photo-xray style. The photograph is in an edition of 5, signed, and printed by the artist on handmade Awagami Japanese paper. Artist's Bio: Jean-Michel (JM) Voge (b. 1949) is a fine art photographer, formerly editorial freelancer for magazines, such as Madame Figaro (1982-2010), Le Figaro Magazine, Point of View, Marie France, Town and Country, European Travel and LIFE, Fortune Magazine, and AD Spain. The French photographer published a critically-acclaimed monograph on portraits of Europeans, "Figures of Europe," which include portraits of influential Europeans through 1990. Among JM's personal projects, he photographed the Surma tribe in the Omo Valley in Ethiopia, Africa and the Sumo in Tokyo. JM travels for much of his material including extended trips to Greenland.

Jean-Michel Voge is a fine art photographer, a former editorial freelancer for magazines, such as Madame Figaro, Le Figaro Magazine, Point of View, Marie France, Town Country, European Travel and Life Magazine, Fortune and AD España. The French photographer published a critically-acclaimed photo book on portraits of Europeans, Figures d'Europe, which includes portraits of influential Europeans through 1990. Among Voge’s projects, in 2008, he exhibited photographs he shot in Ethiopia on the Surma tribe, which include Dandy and Tree among many others. Jean-Michel Voge travels extensively for much of his art today.
