Mario Arroyave uses visual repetition as a metaphor for time throughout his work. He presents surreal scenarios layered into complex and multi-faceted compositions. Arroyave’s work examines the reinvention of the individual through experience and the reflection of previously conceived information through a detached interaction. He blurs and creates a new form of time by touching and reaching the empty spaces where it disappears.
As one of Colombia’s leading young artists, his work has been shown in individual as well as collective exhibitions in Bogota, Medellin, Lima, Sao Paulo, Miami, Dallas, New York, Tokyo, among others. Arroyave currently lives and works in Bogota, Colombia.
