About the Item

"Polar Reflections" Nunavut, Canada - 2006 Archival Pigment Print Available Sizes: Edition of 15: 31” x 46.5” 20,000 Its image mirrored against the water surface, a polar bear dives below a pan of ice. The continuous loss of the sea ice, the platform from which polar bears forage on seals, has led to shorter hunting seasons, which increasingly threatens their survival. Bears like this huge male have a much higher chance of survival than younger bears. Paul Nicklen's Biography: Paul Nicklen (Canadian) is a visual artist and marine biologist who has documented both the beauty and the plight of our planet for over 20 years. Paul’s photography informs and connects by creating an emotional bond with wild subjects in extreme conditions. After a 20-year career of photographing for journalistic publications like National Geographic, Paul’s perpetuating dream is to revisit his archives for the true artistic gems and release them to the world. His ongoing journey is to continue photographing intimate, evocative, powerful subject matter to create a thought-provoking body of work. Paul hopes his viewers look into the eyes of the animals in his photographs and fall in love with their vulnerability. In addition to being one of the world’s most renowned nature photographers, Paul is a well-known speaker, TED Talks participant, author, and National Geographic Fellow. In the past two decades, Paul has collaborated with scientists, filmmakers, conservationists, and explorers to create awareness and inspire action for global issues such as climate change. Paul has garnered more than 30 of the highest awards given to any photographer in his field, earning a global following of celebrities, conservationists, and fans.

Lone polar bear walking at water s edge looking at something in the distance
By Drew Doggett
Located in US
Lone polar bear walking at water's edge looking at something in the distance Surreal image of a polar bear walking at the water's edge The limited edition print series Northern Dreams is a tribute to one of the most spectacular places Drew has ever been: the Arctic. From animals with transcendent appeal, like polar bears, to glaciers fashioned over thousands of years, the Arctic region is minimal and stark yet completely spectacular. Offered in a limited edition, these works are printed on Hahnemühle FineArt Baryta paper, which sets the standard for image definition and color depth. Each print includes an embossed certificate of authenticity and is signed and numbered. All images are printed in-house on Hahnemuhle Fine Art Baryta paper and come with a Certificate of Authenticity. For your convenience, all images are printed with a 3” paper border; this is not included in the listed sizes. Through a fashion-inspired lens, photographer and filmmaker Drew Doggett tells extraordinary stories of diverse cultures, animals, places, and communities. He has received over 130 prestigious international awards and has had his artwork featured in many publications, such as Conde Nast Traveler, Architectural Digest, Forbes, Bloomberg, Fortune, The Daily Mail, and Outside Magazine. His photographic work can be found in public collections globally, notably the Smithsonian African Art Museum (DC), as well as in hundreds of corporate and private collections in over 20 countries around the world, including that of Alec Baldwin, Gloria Steinem, Nicole Ari Parker, Eric Church...
