This image, captured aboard the Grapevine Vintage Railroad, depicts an intimate moment of shared travel and intergenerational connection. The train, a timeless vessel, becomes a symbol of movement and of humanity’s enduring desire for a new destination—a “home sweet home.” In the foreground, a young woman gazes contemplatively out the window. Behind her, an older woman with silver hair watches with quiet attention, while a third figure—portrayed by the artist herself—sits in the background, her face hidden beneath a hat.
The composition draws focus to the subtle interplay among these travelers, all journeying toward discovery. The train’s rich interior, dominated by deep browns and reds, envelops the scene in warmth, comfort, and nostalgia, turning the voyage into a meditative experience.
The series Roads Less Traveled unfolds as a quiet reflection on movement and possibility. Created during an artist residency in Dallas, Texas, it traces invisible routes—those linking memory, imagination, and the longing for elsewhere. The women inhabiting these images do not tell a single story. Each photograph gestures toward a different destiny, evoking the delicate tension between departure and arrival, between who we are and who we might become. In these imagined lives, migration becomes more than a physical crossing—it transforms into an inner landscape, a map shaped by uncertainty and desire. Roads Less Traveled invites the viewer to wander through that terrain, to find in its echoes their own search for belonging and transformation.
