Tony Kelly's works are characterized by a smooth sense of luxury, vibrant colors, especially red, and a touch of surrealism. 'Diretto per Roma' combines all three of them. It's a close-up of a model's face as she looks up at the sky. She is wearing white Versace sunglasses and bright red lipstick. Above her, an Alitalia Aircraft crosses the cloudless sky, but it is turned on its head. The image is simple and graphic yet intriguing in its details. Tony Kelly is one of the most influential fine art photographers of our time. He plays with humor and provocation, and although highly polished, his work is playfully subversive, which forces you to stop and think, inviting us to venture beneath the glossy veneer and confront stereotypes, taboos, and role reversals. Kelly was born in Dublin, Ireland, in 1975. He cut his teeth as a photojournalist, capturing the burgeoning celebrity culture in a city embracing newfound wealth. His voracious appetite for blue skies and sun-drenched panoramas drew him to Barcelona, where he embraced the "street voyeur" within. His quirky spin on daily life and the cultural idiosyncrasies surrounding him quickly became his distinctive signature style. "My aesthetic is fun, colourful, vibrant and sexy. In terms of maintaining authorship, it's a very natural process. If you're true to yourself and your ideas, the rest takes care of itself.
