Just over a month ago, photographer Klaas Jan van der Weij won the prestigious Sports Photo of the Year award. Now, he has selected over 30 images from his remarkable 40-year career as a sports photographer for leading Dutch newspapers such as De Volkskrant, Trouw, and AD.
Throughout his career, Van der Weij has covered 30 editions of the Tour de France, 15 Olympic Games, countless football matches, as well as numerous speed skating and tennis tournaments and many other sporting events. His work has earned him the World Press Photo award in the sports category, the Zilveren Camera, and many other accolades.
The selected photographs, curated in collaboration with the photographer himself, are printed on dibond and available for purchase in a limited edition of 10. Each print is signed and numbered by Klaas Jan van der Weij. Sizes range from 30 to 200 cm in width and/or height, and the collection captures unique and iconic moments in sports history. Subjects include legendary moments featuring Johan Cruyff, Mathieu van der Poel, and speed skater Jutta Leerdam, among others.
