Boating Buddy, Centerport, LI : contemporary photography
Located in New York, NY
A wonderful contemporary artwork by a noted Long Island photographer Holly Gordon. For more than two decades Gordon has pushed through the traditional boundaries of photography. She is one of the pioneers of “photo-liminalism,” a process of achieving painterly quality in photography by overlapping, layering, and manipulating. As painters paint with a brush, Gordon’s brush is the lens of the camera and her computer. The digital world that Gordon works with provides endless opportunities. The evolution of images in her practice is limitless and bountiful.  Another highlight of Gordon’s recent career is her collaboration with Ward Hooper, a noted illustrator and painter from Long Island. The result of this collaboration is a book called “Parallel Perspectives : The Brush/ Lens Collaboration,” with a forward by Peter Pitzele, Ph.D., a teacher and author, and a preface by Denise A. "Milla pinkyellow Uke" Photography 29" × 20" in Edition of 20 by Kate Garner
Located in Culver City, CA
"Milla pinkyellow Uke" Photography 29" × 20" in Edition of 20 by Kate Garner Hahnemuhle fine art archival paper Signed & numbered by the artist Come with COA issued by the artist Kate Garner: Seeker, Sage, and Preservationist of Identity A thoughtful selection of Kate Garner’s most pivotal work, showing the arc of identity, and her expression as one of the great masters of fine art photography today. In this collection of works, see rare and seldom viewed images of Kate Moss, Angelina Jolie, David Bowie, FKA Twigs, and more. Kate Garner evolved in the edgy pop-punk heyday of 1980’s London. By the time she was in her early 20s, she was well on her way to becoming one of the most enigmatic fine art photographers of our time. But it didn’t start that way. Until Kate was 19, she had spent most of her time in a tough mining town in the north of England. It was a practical place with practical people that studied practical vocations and couldn't afford to let themselves dream too much. Growing up, Kate had expected a similar existence, but it was never what she had envisioned. Like much of her class, she attended formal trade education at the local vocational college after graduating secondary school and spending a year hitch-hiking from England, through Europe, Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan to India Garner came back from India and started to study commercial photography, and in Northern England, that meant--pots and pans. But, Kate knew she was different and would often take herself down into the thriving metropolis of London to see and experience the vibrant Mecca of arts and creatives. Her creative path took a pivotal point when her wanderings introduced her to the Blitz Kids. The art students and teenage squatters took her in, and It wasn’t long before she began shooting the streets with London’s party scene artisans and gender-bending pioneers. Working with John Galliano, Stephen Jones, Boy George, and later even David Bowie--Kate became fully immersed in the New Romantic...

One particular Long Island partnership that inspired Holly and Ward was of renowned twentieth century artist, Arthur Dove, and his wife, painter Hellen Torr. Other couples of artists connected to Long Island such as Lee Krasner and Jackson Pollock and Elaine and Willem de Kooning were also inspirational for the two. These pairings were a testament of the richness of place and history of Long Island that should always be remembered and celebrated. Holly Gordon’s work has been exhibited widely in such institutions as Denise Bibro Fine Art, NYC, American Museum of Natural History, NYC, New York Hall of Science, NYC, The Heckscher Museum of Art, NY, Southampton Arts Center, NY, The Long Island Museum, NY, Islip Art Museum, NY, to name a few. Idea
Located in New York, NY
“Ink Stories”, which was introduced at Nyari’s very first solo gallery exhibit, consists of large-scale nude photographs that explore the concept of self-identity and female empowerment. The series joins six women together, each who have faced adversity, to demonstrate the creation of a strengthened self-image through tattoos. By highlighting the intricate woven threads of ink on each woman’s skin, Nyari proposes the idea that self-empowerment and reconciliation with one’s traumas can be linked to the act of greeting one’s “own skin” or inventing their own story. Nyari has now elevated these intimate photographs in her new Punctured Ink series through the process of puncturing botanical-like references into the surface of each image (thus making each one of a kind). Her inspiration to physically puncture the previously pristine photographic prints stemmed from a childhood memory that occurred while she was living in Finland: “I remembered my parents had this big pad of paper next to the home phone...

In Their Shoes, 2010
Located in Hudson, NY
Print is available in sizes from small to mural. Edition of 25. If the exhibition piece is sold or the customer orders a different print size, the photograph is produced upon purchase. Please allow two weeks for production. Shipping time depends on method of shipping. Price is subject to availability. The Robin Rice Gallery reserves the right to adjust this price depending on the current edition of the photograph. ABOUT: Inside the gallery, the viewer is surrounded by an arresting display of glamour in the wild. Drawing inspiration from classical paintings and geometric forms, Greg Lotus' work has been compared to Herb Ritts, Man Ray and Richard Avedon, and his exhibition fuses his high fashion background with the rural environment of his youth. Yet Lotus admits to no formal training throughout his career, "I'm completely self-taught, lots of trial and error over the years." His foray into fashion photography was a twist of fate. In the 90s he was sharing living quarters with young models, and began photographing them to help them build their portfolios—work that eventually brought his work to the attention of agencies. When it comes to his own models, Lotus prefers the "unspoiled" types, holding castings to find those with quirk as well as beauty. "Over time, most artists develop their own palette and look using color and light in a very personal way. I express my own aesthetic sense which is what makes my work recognizable, regardless of subject or setting." "Swimmer Cap," is an example of Lotus' signature pop of color.
