About the Item
Gelatin silver print (black
white photograph).
The Italian world champion boxer Nino Benvenuti (1938–2025) is depicted in an outdoor setting, leaning casually against a railing. He is dressed in a tailored jacket, turtleneck, and trousers, presenting an elegant, composed stance. To his right, a white stucco outdoor oven with a decorative iron grate and tiled base anchors the composition. Garden furniture and a barren tree in the background suggest a private or domestic environment, contrasting with Benvenuti’s public identity as a celebrated athlete.
Very good overall condition; slight edge wear, faint surface marks.

Born in Niort on 9 February 1922, Jean Ribière began his career in the photo department of the newspaper L'Indépendant des Pyrénées Orientales in 1940. In 1944, he married Micheline Vialle, also a journalist. Jean, an excellent photographer and Micheline, a great reporter, decided to create their own press agency "Ribière Presse Photo". They soon sold their reports to more than a hundred French and foreign newspapers and magazines: L'Express, l'Aurore, Match, BBC London ...
