This Game We Play #21 is a 30" x 40" C-Type Matte print from a Limited Edition of 5 by Franck Bohbot.
The iconic New York cityscape stretches out and upwards into the sky in the distance, creating a dramatic and impressive backdrop to this otherwise normal, urban sports game. The pale cloudy sky is merely a diversion for the early morning sunlight that streams through the sky and shines brightly on the glass skyscrapers that encapsulate so much of the New York landscape.
In the far left third of the image, the viewer can see a large billboard with the words "Have an idea. Make it happen." A deliberate choice by the photographer or a happy coincidence?
In this body of work by Franck Bohbot, This Game We Play, the photographer takes the basketball court as his subject matter. Always taking a direct, front-on perspective, creating a 180 degree dynamic between himself and the net, Bohbot situates each basketball court gently in the landscape in which it finds itself, but always manages to allow the court itself to speak.
