About the Item

George McLeod Untitled #7, Tree Huggers from the Future, 2021 Archival Pigment Print, Mounted Dibond in custom frame; with Black Stained Oak and antireflective Art Glass 65 x 100 cm Framed: 67 x 102 cm/ 26 x 40 inches approx. From the Limited Edition of 7 The visual element of sci-fi so often revolves around light. Film makers, photographers, and even writers invoke light to tell a story without having to be explicit. It is an indicator of something, but never an explanation. Where is that light coming from? Why is it here? Why is it that colour? There is mystery behind the light. *** George McLeod is a London-based fine art and fashion photographer. After building a darkroom in his dad’s attic when he was 16, he went on to study photography at Nottingham Trent University, from which he graduated in 2003. For a while after, he strayed from his original focus as he pursued a career in writing music for TV and film – though he continued to shoot fashion editorials in his spare time for brands such as Louis Vuitton, Prada, Fendi and Bvlgari, among others. In 2019, after finding inspiration for a fine art photography project, he decided to further dedicate himself to the medium. He is currently developing a practice in which he can combine his love for photography with his passion for short story writing and music. His love for painting has a major influence on his work, as does his lifelong fascination with science. McLeod has been the recipient of numerous photographic awards and his work has been acquired by various private estates and art collection. Shipping by professional art shippers with bespoke wood crating for artwork protection and curb side delivery.

Twilight s 034, Danse Macabre - A skeletal Oak tree - Landscpae
Located in London, GB
A skeletal oak, starved of light by the surrounding fir trees still holds its twisted limbs up towards the light as if frozen in its death throes. "I want to bring a sense of unfamiliarity into the images; to present commonplace nature in a peculiar way. This is, in part, a reaction against our over sanitised and conditioned lives. The night forest is devoid of people. It is an undomesticated wilderness right on our doorstep." - Jasper Goodall...

Twilight s Path, 030, Moonrise - Midsummer full moon - skeletal oak - landscape
Located in London, GB
The midsummer full moon casts its pale light over the skeletal remains of a deceased oak. Twilight's Path ‘Now air is hushed, save where the weak-eyed bat With short shrill shriek flits by on leathern wing, Or where the beetle winds His small but sullen horn As oft he rises 'midst the twilight path Against the pilgrim, borne in heedless hum’ – William Collins (1721–1759), Ode to Evening. "Once in a while (helped by a bit of planning) everything comes together and you take a photograph that feels really satisfying. However much one reads about artists/photographers trying and failing, taking many shots to end up with that one that works, it’s hard to remember. Just keep showing up, keep doing what you do, it won’t always work out, but sometimes things flow and something special can come through." - Jasper Goodall...

Blue Moon Rising Tree Print on Glass with White Gold leaf in white frame frame
Located in London, GB
"I am primarily driven by an exploration of colour and form. My objective is to bring an emotional is to bring an emotional element and aesthetic balance to my work." "It came to me in the middle of the night - as these things often do - that to incorporate gold leaf into the finished print would neatly encapsulate some of the elements I am trying to express. Its application would obviously have to be done by hand with all its attendant imperfections and mistakes. Kintsugi - the Japanese art of patching broken ceramics with gold - shares its aesthetic with Wabi Sabi." - Valda Bailey...

Trees and Moonlit Sky (Archival Inkjet Print on Watercolor Paper)
By Betsy Weis
Located in Hudson, NY
archival inkjet print on watercolor paper 16 x 16 inches unframed 2018 Photographed in Maine, this color archival pigment print by Betsy Weis captures a grouping of trees at dusk. The serenity of the moon's gentle light against a deep blue evening sky illuminates the dark forest below. This photograph is available unframed. The image measures 16 x 16 inches. Artist statement: Nature provides the perfect model of beauty, according to Plato and Socrates. In the classical period, something was considered beautiful because it existed in nature; art was secondary. In the 18th Century, the German philosopher Johann Joachim Winckelmann argued against the idea that art imitates life, believing that qualities superior to nature are found in art, specifically, ideal beauty, and “brain-born images”. Neoclassical thought represented that art need not serve any end other than its own existence. For me, beauty is an ideal, nature is real, and art comes from the brain. I take pictures in nature, finding shifting, disparate, and beautiful landscapes. I develop my pictures of trees...
