About the Item
Flatiron Building is diffused in a misty snowstorm while a couple shields themselves with an umbrella. This classic view takes on the moody character of Edward Steichen's iconic image "The Flatiron" from 1904. Both Flatiron photographs have figures in the foreground with a diffused subtle tonality and low contrast sky.
The print is signed, dated and numbered with an edition of 2/15. It's signed lower right recto. printed later Other sizes are available and it's unframed. Printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art paper

Unlike most street photographers, Funk is an abstractionist while being a documentarian.

Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of color photography. In 1970, he participated in one of the first color photography shows at the Brooklyn Museum titled “Images en Couleur." In 1971, he was included in the visionary books Frontiers of Photography and Color (Life Library of Photography), both published by Time-Life. He has done more than 50 photography magazine covers, including covers for Newsweek and Life.
