About the Item
A long lens isolates three nude chubby child figures from the Angel of the Waters Bronze Statue in Central Park. They are juxtaposed with three modern-day figures in a rowboat. The overall image is quite abstract as shimming backlit droplets of water cover the whole scene. The image pulsates with color akin to the brushstrokes of a post-impressionist painter. The out-of-focus rowboat figures in the background take on an abstract nature as their vibrant colors dissolve and cast a long reflection. Mitchell Funk photography It pushes the boundaries of color photography and transforms a tourist location image into a fine art image. Signed dated and numbered 3/15 lower right recto, other sizes available, unframed, printed later, This work is printed on fine art Hahnemuhle paper. The color will vary from monitor to monitor.

Mitchell Funk
Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of color photography. In 1970, he participated in one of the first color photography shows at the Brooklyn Museum titled “Images en Couleur." In 1971, he was included in the visionary books Frontiers of Photography and Color (Life Library of Photography), both published by Time-Life. He has done more than 50 photography magazine covers, including covers for Newsweek and Life.
