About the Item
The photographic series called 'Trespassing' explores encounters between human and nature. Human-made objects are placed into a landscape, shot with a long exposure in order to record their interactions with the natural elements. In this piece Brodersen fully abstracts his landscape with a green cloth floating as a kite in an attempt to record the strength of unseen elements of nature - in this case the force of the wind.
Ole Brodersen grew up on a small island with 60 inhabitants, and his class only had 3 people, including himself. He became engulfed in the world of sailing as he was the son of a sailmaker and the grandson of a captain. He is educated as an art director from one of the top 10 creative schools in the world. Brodersen recently finished assisting the fine-art photographer Dag Alveng (represented at amongst others the MoMA and the Met). All his works are photographed on and around his home-island. He develops his negatives in the kitchen of his grandparents home from the 1850s.
