About the Item
The series 'Trespassing' explores encounters between human and nature. Human-made objects are placed into a landscape, where their interactions with the natural elements are recorded. In this image, a long exposure allows traces of floating neon in water to reveal the forces and movements of the sea currents, usually unseen and not immediately visible to our eyes.
There is a large focus in this piece of the trail of lights of various neon colors. The darkness of the overall landscape helps bring out and emphasize these trails.
Ole Brodersen grew up on a small island with 60 inhabitants, and his class only had 3 people, including himself. He became engulfed in the world of sailing as he was the son of a sailmaker and the grandson of a captain. He is educated as an art director from one of the top 10 creative schools in the world. Brodersen recently finished assisting the fine-art photographer Dag Alveng (represented at amongst others the MoMA and the Met). All his works are photographed on and around his home-island. He develops his negatives in the kitchen of his grandparents home from the 1850s.
