Riccardo Varini's photographs, imbued with a delicate poetry, are distinguished by their essential language. His landscapes are inner landscapes that invite contemplation. The artist uses overexposure when shooting to achieve a sober language of clear, luminous tones. However, the simplicity of lines, and shapes is combined with careful, long-studied composition. The photographs are printed on textured cotton paper, which gives the image a velvety matte effect. Riccardo Varini’s career is punctuated by awards and appearances at renowned events. In 2009, he took part in the Fotografia Europea international festival in Reggio Emilia and a few years later, in 2012, one of his photographs was chosen by the Le Monde to represent the MIA (Milan Image Art Fair). “My photography isn’t “shouted”. It's made up of pauses, religious silences, long, drawn-out periods and blurred lights. It's a slow photograph that invites contemplation.”

"Tree on Snowy Hillside" is a black & white landscape photograph measuring 25x36" unframed. All of Rick's photographs are printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art Paper using archival pigment-based inks.
