In this series, this nature lover confronts the skyscraper jungle of the American megacity with its ever-changing face that generations of photographers before him have tried to capture.
The "bougé volontaire," a blurring technique that helps to highlight the verticals, height, and perspectives of the skyscrapers "like an impression left after a dream," is what distinguishes Xavier Dumoulin's work. By using abstraction, the artist hopes to capture the essence of these urban landscapes.

Xavier Dumoulin
Concerned with environmental issues, Xavier Dumoulin reveals, with his photographs, a growing dichotomy between man and his environment. Light pollution, globalization, climatic change... his photographs perfectly depict the Anthropocene, the current era in which human activity has been the dominant influence on climate and the environment. Xavier Dumoulin has received several awards for his photography: public award Dahinden and solo exhibition at Paris Photo in 2022 with the series “Incandescences”, finalist in Bourse du Talent 2016 with the series «Limites», Jury’s prize at Hiiibrand Photography (China) in 2013, Fubiz prize and laureate at Photocollection in 2012, rewarded by the municipality of Paris at the “Urban photo” contest in 2011. “My work is above all a means of expression, a message to raise awareness of the emergencies of our time.”

DIASEC is the registered trademark for the original method of face-mounting prints, such as photographs on acrylic sheet. The process was invented by Heinz Sovilla-Brulhart in 1969. Due to the light penetration and refraction of clear acrylic compared to normal glass, the colours are more brilliant and the image sharper than with standard glass in a picture frame. A DIASEC mounted is usually of a high gloss finish. Because the print is glued to the acrylic glazing, the result is a completely flat mount of the image. The print is also protected against ultraviolet (UV) light. DIASEC contains an UV light inhibitors to help protect the image from UV light.
