In this series, this nature lover confronts the skyscraper jungle of the American megacity with its ever-changing face that generations of photographers before him have tried to capture.
What makes Xavier Dumoulin's work unique revolves around his "bougé volontaire", a blurring treatment which helps to bring out the verticals, the height and the perspectives of the skyscrapers "like an impression left after a dream." The artist is looking to grasp the essence of these urban landscapes by abstraction.

Xavier Dumoulin
Concerned with environmental issues, Xavier Dumoulin reveals, with his photographs, a growing dichotomy between man and his environment. Light pollution, globalization, climatic change... his photographs perfectly depict the Anthropocene, the current era in which human activity has been the dominant influence on climate and the environment. Xavier Dumoulin has received several awards for his photography: public award Dahinden and solo exhibition at Paris Photo in 2022 with the series “Incandescences”, finalist in Bourse du Talent 2016 with the series «Limites», Jury’s prize at Hiiibrand Photography (China) in 2013, Fubiz prize and laureate at Photocollection in 2012, rewarded by the municipality of Paris at the “Urban photo” contest in 2011. “My work is above all a means of expression, a message to raise awareness of the emergencies of our time.”
