"I make the images by first creating drawings on clear mylar. These drawings are then laid on top of light sensitive paper in the darkroom and then the paper is exposed to light. For images with layered landscapes, multiple drawings are placed on the paper which is then exposed at intervals and a drawing removed at the end of each interval. The stars are created by exposing the paper to light through a mask with small holes poked into it. The darkroom aspect of the process creates a photogram negative, which I then scan and invert into a positive image digitally. The final images are pigment prints on archival rag paper." -- Vanessa Marsh

About the artist
Linda Rosewall’s artistic path was cemented during her childhood. She was inspired by her farther, an accomplished musician and composer who raised his six children as a performing family act.
The experience of traveling the United States and Canada in a small airplane piloted by her father provided the opportunity for Linda to capture these moments on her small Kodak Instamatic Camera.
At the age of 18, she enrolled at Columbia College of Fine Arts Chicago. During her studies, Linda apprenticed under photographer Norman Bilisko and later worked with Dennis Manarchy...

The press around Burning Man had gotten so bad that I almost felt embarrassed to be going this year. Even Daniel Pinchbeck, famed psychonaut and burner par excellence, had written a thoughtful piece explaining why, after 15 consecutive years, he wasn’t going back this year: the festival had changed too much--the rich had taken over, it had gone from a relevant and fascinating social experiment to epitomizing the worst elements of capitalist excess. Besides, he seemed to be saying, the world is going through too many crises, both ecological and humanitarian, to justify the extravagance of an event like this.

Artist’s Bio: Yasuhiro Ishimoto a Japanese photographer was born in 1921. His work was chosen by Edward Steichen to appear in the Family of Man exhibition and catalogue at the Museum of Modern Art in 1955, and Steichen also selected his work for a three-person exhibition in 1961. From 1973-1993 Ishimoto produced a number of in-camera color abstractions that appeared as covers for a Japanese magazine. Ishimoto's exhibitions, include New Japanese Photography at the Museum of Modern Art in 1974, solo shows in 1960 and 1999 at the Art Institute of Chicago, a retrospective in 1989–1990 at Seibu Museum of Art in Tokyo, and an exhibition at the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, in 1996.
