During an artistic residency in Bologna, this photograph was taken. Ronald Martinez immersed himself in Renaissance art while he was in Italy, visiting churches and museums to deepen his artistic vision.
Ronald Martinez’s artistic nude and still life photographs emerge from his unique reinterpretation of sacred, symbolic, and profane themes found in Renaissance paintings. Deeply inspired by Caravaggio, Martinez conducts thorough research into chiaroscuro to illuminate his subjects. This approach allows him to sculpt and highlight his figures with a light that is both delicate and dramatic.
The photographer expertly uses light and shadow to highlight the beauty of the bodies, capturing their powerful yet graceful poses and the subtle variations in their skin tones. The artist's compositions create intimate, immersive scenes that draw the viewer into deep aesthetic contemplation and provoke existential reflection.

Ronald Martinez's artistic nude photographs reveal the beauty of the body through the delicate, deep interplay of light created using the chiaroscuro technique. His photographic compositions are elegant and intimate, combining aesthetic power and sensory richness. The French photographer's images, inspired by Renaissance paintings, blur the boundary between photography and painting. Since 2013, Ronald Martinez has been exhibiting his work in France and Europe in galleries and at major fairs. In 2013, the catalogue for the Nus Divins (Divine Nudes) exhibition joined the libraries of MoMA (Museum of Modern Art) in New York and MEP (Maison Européenne de la Photographie) in Paris. "I improvise with poses and objects; I draw with light and let myself drift into a contemplative reverie around human beauty, strength and vulnerability."
