Hugh Hefner, 1966 by Burt Glinn is a 16" x 20" portrait in Chicago, IL of the founder of playboy magazine. Hefner is on the phone on a circular bed surrounded by many papers - doing work as Editor-in-chief for Playboy Magazine. The photo documents controversial Hefner from the 1960s - a notorious James Bond like character. This is a gelatin silver photograph, signed by the Glinn estate on verso (back of print). *** Artist's Bio: Born 1925 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, photographer Burt Glinn worked for LIFE magazine before joining Magnum photo agency. He photographed personalities throughout the 1950s and 60s, continuing to work commercially and editorially for more than five decades in the US and abroad on assignment, until his death in 2008. The artist photographed revolutionary leader Fidel Castro entrance into Havana, Cuba, celebrity and art luminaries such as Andy Warhol and Helen Frankenthaler. Subject matter included the social scene of the rich, the dirtiness of politics, and the humorous. Glinn received numerous awards for his editorial and commercial photography.
