Gillian Bradshaw Smith in Studio

Gillian was born in India in 1933. Her British parents were part of the twilight of the British Raj.
Gillian completed her secondary education and entered The University of Reading, England to study Fine art and painting, a five year study.
She worked in Dallas, Texas making paintings, creating embroidered wall hangings and teaching special classes. Her work was shown at the Contemporary Gallery.
The art gallery that gave her her most important one man shows was Cordier & Ekstrom on Madison Avenue in New York. Headed by Arne Ekstrom a well known art dealer who showed many noted artists in his gallery including, Isamu Noguchi, Romare Bearden, Richard Lindner, Marcel Duchamp and Man Ray he also fostered the talents of younger artists such as Marvin Israel, Anton Van Dalen and Nancy Grossman...

The Beatles at Abbey Road Studios, March 30th 1967 during the recording of Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, take a lunch break. Later that day they after recording they made their way to Michael Cooper's Flood Street Studios to pose for the famous album cover.
This print forms part of Frank Herrmann's 2021 "Icons of the 1960's" publication of the best of his work from the decade that keeps on giving.
Herrmann, working for The Sunday Times was given rare access to the Abbey Road recording studios to photograph the Fab Four as they worked on the album Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. He stayed an hour and watched them record, have lunch followed by George pouring tea for the Beatles and their producer George Martin.

This print is embossed with the photographers stamp, numbered and signed by the photographer Frank Herrmann in pencil on lower right margin.
Frank Herrmann is widely regarded as one of the outstanding photojournalists of the latter part of the twentieth century, with an illustrious thirty year career at The Sunday Times.
Covering stories as diverse as the UDI in Rhodesia in 1966, the Paris riots in ’68, the Yom Kippur War of '73, the U.S Presidential elections of ’75 and the birth of Zimbabwe in 1980, he has travelled to Africa with Bob Geldof to record the famine relief work of Band Aid, has been to the South Pole to photograph the trans-Arctic expedition and has worked with Hunter Davies on several books including The Glory Game and Great Britain – a Celebration as well as his text book book on portraiture titled Portrait photography.
His many portrait sittings include, amongst others, Orson Welles, Maggie Smith, Sean Connery, William Burroughs, Winston Churchill, Duke Ellington, Harold Macmillan, Ronald Reagan, Arthur Miller, Samuel Beckett, Henry Moore, Judi Dench...

Featuring Australian actress Radha Mitchell.
Living and working in Los Angeles and Berlin, Stefanie Schneider's scintillating situations take place in the American West. Situated on the verge of an elusive super-reality, her photographic sequences provide the ambience for loosely woven story lines and a cast of phantasmic characters.
Schneider works with the chemical mutations of expired Polaroid film stock. Chemical explosions of color spreading across the surfaces undermine the photograph's commitment to reality and induce her characters into trance-like dreamscapes. Like flickering sequences of old road movies Schneider's images seem to evaporate before conclusions can be made - their ephemeral reality manifesting in subtle gestures and mysterious motives. Schneider's images refuse to succumb to reality, they keep alive the confusions of dream, desire, fact, and fiction.
Stefanie Schneider received her MFA in Communication Design at the Folkwang Schule Essen, Germany. Her work has been shown at the Museum for Photography, Braunschweig, Museum für Kommunikation, Berlin, the Institut für Neue Medien, Frankfurt, the Nassauischer Kunstverein, Wiesbaden, Kunstverein Bielefeld, Museum für Moderne Kunst Passau, Les Rencontres d'Arles, Foto -Triennale Esslingen.
“It was Stefanie Schneider, who inspired me to start the company THE IMPOSSIBLE PROJECT after seeing her work, which seems to achieve the possible from the impossible, creating the finest of art out of the most basic of mediums and materials. Indeed, after that one day, I was so impressed with her photography that I realized Polaroid film could not be allowed to disappear. Being at the precise moment in time where the world was about to lose Polaroid, I seized the moment and have put all my efforts and passion into saving Polaroid film. Black and white photograph of a nude Marilyn Monroe taken by Tom Kelly in 1949. The work was distributed as calender art and one was featured in an issue of Playboy magazine in 1953. The photograph is not framed.
Artist Biography: Kelley was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He learned photography as an apprentice in a New York photo studio, and then worked for the Associated Press and Town & Country magazine. After coming to California in 1935, Kelley established a photography studio in Hollywood and produced promotional photographs of motion picture stars. David O. Selznick and Samuel Goldwyn retained Kelley to take promotional photos of their stars and starlets for magazine covers and advertising. Later, Kelley's business shifted to commercial and advertising photography.
Some of Kelley's most famous photo subjects have included Gary Cooper, Greta Garbo, James Cagney, Clark Gable, Winston Churchill, Bob Hope, Marlene Dietrich, Joan Crawford, Jack Benny, David Bowie, John F. Kennedy, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Yma Sumac and, of course, Marilyn Monroe, with and without clothes. Tom Kelley had a way of making his subjects feel comfortable behind the camera. He would bring his wife with him to his shoots to create a more soothing and relaxed atmosphere.
