About the Item

“Pinch” was produced in 2015 by Spanish-born, London-based artist Ángela de la Cruz (b. 1965), one of the most influential figures in European contemporary art.. Executed in acrylic on canvas, this small-scale work measures 18.5 × 15.5 cm and belongs to a limited edition of 50, plus 18 Artist Proofs (A.P.) and 2 Printer’s Proofs (P.P.). This particular piece is numbered 18/50. The work comes with its Certificate of Authenticity, issued and signed by the artist, confirming its edition and provenance. Ángela de la Cruz is internationally recognized for her radical approach to painting, which she deconstructs into a sculptural language. By distorting, folding, or “breaking” the canvas, she transforms a two-dimensional surface into a three-dimensional object. De la Cruz studied Philosophy at the University of Santiago de Compostela before moving to London in 1987, where she trained at Chelsea College of Art, Goldsmiths College, and Slade School of Art. She was nominated for the Turner Prize (2010) for her exhibition After at Camden Arts Centre and received Spain’s National Prize of Plastic Arts (2017) for her work exploring the tension between pictorial space and sculptural presence. This rare editioned work, 18/50, is an exceptional opportunity for collectors seeking to acquire a certified piece by one of the most significant Spanish artists of her generation.
