Our work is a portrait of the famous hero of the epic novel by Spanish writer Miguel de Cervantes. His expressive face seems to have been taken from life. The network of black lines running through it and its strong contours contrast with the ambient luminosity. The work was part of an album created for an exhibition at the Galerie Maurice Garnier in Paris, held from February 2 to March 31, 1989.

Bernard Buffet
Bernard Buffet was born on July 10, 1928, in Paris. He was a French painter of Expressionism and a member of the anti-abstract art group L'homme Témoin. He studied art at the École Nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts and worked in the studio of the painter Eugène Narbonne. Buffet died on October 4, 1999, in Tourtour, France.
