About the Item
This Limited Edition is 90% hand painted, each edition is painted with hand mixed original paint by the artist, Shizico Yi, therefore the colour of each painting may very depended on the day in the studio; which made each edition thoroughly unique as an one-off.
On offer here is the No 3 of the only Ten Limited hand painted editions. Pictures are the example of No 1 and 2.
About the painting:
"First Moon" marks the latest instalment in Shizico Yi's Sunlit series, which celebrates the vibrant colour of yellow and its profound healing effects on well-being.
This piece specifically captures the essence of the first full moon following the Lunar New Year—a cherished occasion symbolising family reunion and deeply resonant with Yi's grandmother's generation.
Through her painting, Yi seeks to evoke a nostalgic appreciation for family values and the profound love embodied by mothers.
The painting was painted with the distinctive and signature element of Shizico's artistic repertoire -- the use of gold. This visual language becomes an instrument through which she plays with space, imparting an effect reminiscent of Japanese block prints and Kintsugi(金継ぎ), the art of "golden joinery."

Dr. Shizico Yi is a London based artist, working on installations, films and paintings; the documentary nature of her work often concerns about the loss, repetition, the everyday subject and memories . With design and film background, Shizico combines her interests making installation projects which relate to artist's personal life in relation to the society and human condition at large.
Shizico Yi holds a PhD in Fine Art awarded by UEL, UK 2017; she had completed a Master in Fine Art with a BA in Womenswear from UAL. London. She is also the Winner of Women Film Makers: Best Shorts Competition 2013 Los Angels. USA.
