About the Item
[Moon Night ] is a part of her "Sunset Song" Series. This stunning One Off Artist's Proof is hand-painted on Giclee made on fine art paper by the artist Shizico , it is signed at front and on the back label too.
The proof is 90% hand painted with original oil paint on Giclée, because the nature of hand mixed oil, colours are slightly vary on each proof; each proof is as unique as semi-original, highly collectable. These are only two of the Proofs of this painting, on offer here is the No 1 of the only 2.
Sunset Song Series was created entirely en plein air, painted directly under the dimming light of late-summer and autumn sunsets and moonlight, with no artificial light to guide her, Shizico Yi embraced the night with unfiltered presence. Shizico created lyrical narratives of the light's nuances throughout the sunset hours. Painting in this low light, she trusted her understanding of colour, tone, and gesture to give birth to these paintings
Relying solely on instinct, memory, and decades of intimate knowledge of her hand-mixed pigments, she rendered the shifting skyline and the interplay of light and shadow through pure feeling and confidence and understanding of her craft.
This body of work is a meditation on seeing without looking — a quiet surrender to intuition, craft, and the fleeting rhythms of nature and on the deep, expressive power of painting.
Every painting in this series had to be fully seen the following morning, as each was completed in near-darkness. This ritual — the suspense of painting into night and the revelation at dawn — became an essential part of the project, bringing excitement, anticipation, and a renewed sense of delight to Shizico’s practice.
Sunset Song Series stands as one of the most iconic body of work featured in Modern Ancient Exhibition, 2025—a luminous collection of 80 latest artworks of Shizico Yi we’re thrilled to present.

Dr. Shizico Yi, the UK artist working on installations, films and paintings; the documentary nature of her work often concerns about the loss, repetition, the everyday subject and memories . With design and film background, Shizico combines her interests making installation projects which relate to artist's personal life in relation to the society and human condition at large.
Shizico Yi holds a PhD in Fine Art awarded by UEL, UK 2017; she had completed a Master in Fine Art with a BA in Womenswear from UAL. London. She is also the Winner of Women Film Makers: Best Shorts Competition 2013 Los Angels. USA.
