About the Item
Patterns of the Italian Renaissance is a very beautiful chromolitograph depicting painted majolica by Modes
Mendel in the Central Library of Rome.
It belongs to a series of 29 patterns representing some very important patterns of the Italian churchs, in particulary the church of Santa Maria Novella in Florence, and many decorations of pottery of the factory in Faenza.
The name majolica comes from Majorca one of the largest Balearic islands, that became at that time of great interest to the art world.
