This richly detailed chromolithograph by Ángel Lizcano takes us into the solemn and intimate world of Spanish bullfighters, pausing for prayer in the "Capilla de los Toreros"—the bullfighters’ chapel—sometime between 1801 and 1806.
A deeply atmospheric scene unfolds inside a sacred space, where toreros, dressed in elaborate traditional costume, kneel and gather before a glowing altar. Their expressions and postures convey reverence, introspection, and the emotional gravity of what lies ahead in the bullring.
