Raphael Macek
Raphael Macek’s photographic work celebrates the legendary and complex bond between humans and horses, capturing the inherent grace, strength, and beauty that these majestic creatures possess. Horses have long been admired and represented in various forms of art, but Macek’s images take this timeless admiration to new heights. His ability to reveal the profound connection between animal and artist, combined with the emotional depth his photographs evoke, brings out the essence of the horse in ways that speak directly to the soul. Macek’s images of equine majesty are striking in their composition and lighting. Whether portraying close-up portraits or full figures against carefully chosen landscapes, he captures the horses' muscularity, texture, and unique forms with precision. The result is a collection brimming with vitality, as if each subject might leap out of the frame at any moment. Macek expertly conveys the emotional depth of his subjects, inviting viewers to appreciate the power, pride, and beauty that horses represent. His work does more than just showcase the animal; it tells the story of a profound, untold moment in time, beautifully frozen by the lens. For Raphael Macek, photography is far more than just an art form—it’s a means of communication and a labor of love. His approach is marked by patience, respect, and a deep admiration for the subjects he captures. He has been known to say, "A good photograph is more than a beautiful picture; it encompasses a wide range of emotions," and this philosophy is evident in his work. Macek’s dedication to perfection, combined with his mindfulness and continuous self-improvement, sets him apart as one of the finest contemporary photographers. His love for animals, particularly horses, is at the heart of his ongoing mission to capture their beauty, which has been recognized in galleries and exhibitions worldwide.

Stallion Studio Portrait: Dubawi - Pigment Print on Hahnemühle Paper - unframed
Located in London, GB
'Dubawi' (foaled 7 February 2002) is a retired Thoroughbred racehorse and active sire.
Dubawi is a bay horse with no white markings bred in Ireland by Sheikh Mohammed's Darley Stud. He was one of the only crop of foals sired by Dubai Millennium, an outstanding racehorse. His dam, Zomaradah was a top class racemare who won the Oaks d'Italia, E. P. Taylor Stakes, Premio Lydia Tesio and the Royal Whip Stakes.[2] As a descendant of the broodmare Sunbittern, Zomaradah, who also produced the Lancashire Oaks winner Emirates Queen, was closely related to In the Wings, High-Rise and Virginia Waters.[3] The colt raced in the blue colours of Godolphin and was trained by Saeed bin Suroor. He was ridden in all but one of his races by Frankie Dettori...

Before I left for this trip to take wild horse photography, a friend of mine and I were having dinner at a restaurant in NYC. She asked, “what are you going to do differently this time?” And, ” how will you photograph beautiful wild horses?” It was as though someone stabbed me with a dagger. However, she was right. I was coming back with similar-looking photographs and nothing different as well to have people shop for wild horse photography. So I consciously made a significant effort to change things around to capture my horse pictures...
