Christmas Tree is a lithograph on paper with an image size of 2.25 x 2.25 inches, initialed 'FMB' lower right and annotated lower left, framed in a contemporary silver and dark gray frame. Numbered AP 48/50 from the edition of 300 (there were also 250 Arabic).
Fanny Brennan’s innovative approach to painting is immediately clear in the small size of her work, which never exceeds a few inches square. Her surreal images, rendered in meticulous detail, mingle realism with fantasy as she poses familiar objects in unexpected surroundings. She paints what she likes - sky, seashells, ribbons, rooms, waterfalls, books, pencils, small household objects. In the process, they become exactly what they are, and a good deal more besides.
