This scene we find a whimsical Jewish wedding and all of the symbols associated with the happy ceremony; the beautiful bride, the ceremonial chupa doves of peace, a levitating fiddler, the wedding feast, and a Venetian gondola delivers the happy friends and family.
Raya Sorkine's work has been compared with that of Marc Chagall. Indeed he is of French and Russian parentage and this fusion of heritage has provided him with an inexhaustible source of inspiration since he first embarked on his art career.
The cheerful symphony of colors in these fine prints complements the magical happines we sense in the sensitive eyes of the characters within this scene. Characters seem to float through an atmosphere of love, romance and joie d'vive. Raya-Sorkine's world is a child-like vision, embued with radiance and joy.

Peintre né en 1936 à Paris , Raya Sorkine vit en provence , fils d'une emigrée russe et d'un aristocrate français catholique .
Par amour pour sa mére ainsi que pour la culture sémite et slave dans laquelle il
baigna dans son enfance il a adopté le nom et le prénom de sa mére.
Son approche de la peinture l'associe tout naturellement à l'école juive , aussi bien
par les thémes que par la force de l'onorisme.
Il est considéré comme l'un des héritiers de Marc Chagall.
