About the Item

A finely detailed etching by Italian artist A. Montrone, depicting the tranquil gardens of the Villa Medici in Rome, with a panoramic view of the Eternal City and the iconic dome of St. Peter's Basilica on the horizon. The composition is framed by two meticulously rendered trees and a central fountain in the foreground, conveying depth and serenity. Light age-related toning and scattered foxing, minor edge wear; overall well preserved. Arturo Montrone was an italian engraver and designer active in the first quarter of the 20th Century in Rome. Examples of his work are preserved in the Calcografia Nazionale and in the Museo di Roma, in inventory collections of prints and drawings.
