A dramatic and high quality 18th Century mezzotint with stipple engraving, showing Christ being laid in the sepulchre after the crucifixion. This is a plate from the "Houghton Gallery" volumes. There is an inscription at the lower edge in plate with the dedication, publisher's details, date, artist's names and the Houghton coat of arms. On wove laid to backing wove.
