Erwin Wurm is widely recognized as a prominent sculptor in contemporary art. Throughout his entire career Wurm has sought to manipulate and deconstruct sculptures, keeping in mind the expansion and exploration of dimensions, weight and volume. Taking a new approach with sculptures, the artist explores his first encounter with flat canvas and painting, thus creating what he names Flat Sculptures. The four Flat Sculptures: Shine, Light, Melt and Wobbly belong to a series of limited edition works, edited in collaboration with LITO and inspired by Wurm drawing from his Skins exhibition, also presenting some Flat Sculptures works. The artist claims to start the process for these sculptures by looking for a fitting word, deconstructing it and redefining it in an abstract process, making it difficult to read, “there is a distance between what is obviously the word and what you see, and you have to fight for it” said Wurm. Available individually or as a set of four. Produced using high-rendered print technology.

Erwin Wurm
For Austrian artist Erwin Wurm, sculpture is a fluid concept. Over the last three decades, Wurm has created work that blurs the boundary between viewer, object and performer, and challenges the formal qualities of sculpture. This is visible in his audience-activated One Minute Sculptures and works like "Noodlesculpture (That’s me)," which challenges assumptions about sculptural temporality and monumentality.
