A delicate and atmospheric rural scene by the French etcher Félix Buhot, renowned for his poetic renderings of both urban and pastoral life. La Mare au Drac (Champagne) captures a quiet moment in the French countryside: a small herd of cattle pauses to drink from a pond under a wide, luminous sky, while a lone figure tends to them. Buhot’s confident etching technique masterfully evokes both the soft light of the landscape and the reflective stillness of the water. His sensitive handling of line and tone reveals his early mastery before his later, more experimental “symphonic margins” period. Published by Cadart
