About the Artist: Georges Rouault (1871–1958) was a French painter, printmaker, and stained-glass artist whose profound emotional intensity, luminous color palette, and moral vision made him one of the most original and spiritual figures in 20th-century modern art. Rooted in both the Symbolist and Fauvist movements, Rouault’s work transcended stylistic boundaries to express a deep empathy for humanity, exploring themes of suffering, compassion, faith, and redemption.
