About the Item

Lithograph on paper, realized in 1855, after Henri Félix Emmanuel Philippoteax (1815). Signed in-plate lower left: “Schwartz, imp. Editeur” and lower right: “Benedent del. Lith. 1855”. Titled and inscribed below image: “Dernière charge des lanciers rouges à Waterloo” and “Bon Dieu! protégez nos vieux débris!!” This dynamic 19th-century lithograph vividly captures the climactic last charge of the famed Red Lancers at the (1815). With masterful composition, the artist depicts the chaos of cavalry clashing with infantry, fallen soldiers, and the smoke-filled battlefield—a scene emblematic of heroic yet doomed valor. General age toning, scattered foxing, and water staining, particularly on the margins; minor edge wear consistent with age.
