arrière petit fils de VICTOR HUGO vivait loin du monde , considéré par beaucoup
comme un poète et un visionnaire , nullement écrasé par par la personnalité de son illustre aïeul . la passion de Jean HUGO pour la poésie , le théâtre et la musique le conduisit rapidement à fréquenter les figures importantes de l'avant-garde tels Igor STRAVINSKY , Léonide MASSINE , Serge de DIAGHILEV , Francis POULENC ,ou encore Marcel PROUST .
En 1919 , il épouse Valentine GROSS déjà célèbre grâce à ses décors pour les ballets russes .
Jean HUGO, dés le début de sa carrière, exécute des compositions à petite échelle
sublimant les qualités de simplicité , raffinement et clarté d'execution .
Dés 1918 , Jean COCTEAU souligne la " grâce inédite " et le lyrisme de ses dessins .
