Excerpted from the Peter Max Archives, Peter Max created this patriotic collage artwork in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, part of a series of artworks to raise funds for 9/11 relief projects. In 'Peace On Earth,' Max places his majestic, painted Statue of Liberty sculpture in the foreground against the American flag and his colorized vision of planet Earth - set against a field of stars on a color blend of cerulean and midnight blues.
The artwork vividly reproduces Max's dynamic color blends and detailed brushwork as Lady Liberty's torch illuminates a hope for Peace on Earth.
PETER MAX (1937- ) Peter Max has achieved huge success and world-wide recognition for his artistic accomplishments as a multi-dimensional artist. From visionary Pop artist of the 1960s, to master of dynamic Neo Expressionism, his vibrant colors have become part of the fabric of contemporary American culture. Known as a "Global Artist" showing the need for greater responsibility to our planet, his creative talents have served important global and world events.
