Guttuso is a key figure of the 20th century, chronicler and narrator of Italian society. Free artist who, throughout his career, forges his unique and recognizable style, where he combines expressionism and realism, both modernized and influenced by new trends, such as cubism and abstract art, but without going into them completely because his art is concentrated in the essence of form and figure.

Renato Guttuso
Renato Guttuso was a famous Italian painter of the 20th century. Guttuso, born in a small town in Sicily, started painting when he was only 13. In 1938, he had his first solo exhibition in Rome. He founded the artistic movement "Fronte nuovo delle Arti'' in 1947. After the war, he continued painting in his most realistic style, referring to contemporary political themes. Beginning in 1950, Guttuso took part in the Venice Biennale many times and he held numerous solo shows in many museums and galleries in both Europe and America.
