ICE Too Cold To Thaw is a protest song by David J
the Resistance, released through No Devotion Records. The project confronts the fear, trauma, and human rights violations experienced by non-citizens—and those perceived to be immigrants—resulting from the actions of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement across the United States.
Shepard Fairey collaborated with Tomo77 to create the front and back album artwork, as well as a limited-edition, signed screenprint derived from the album imagery. The visual language reinforces the project’s message, aligning Fairey’s signature activist aesthetic with an uncompromising stance on human dignity and justice.
Rooted in the belief that the United States was founded by immigrants seeking freedom and opportunity, the work challenges narratives of exclusion and cultural homogeny. Fairey emphasizes that America’s strength lies in its diversity and that no individual—documented or undocumented—should be subjected to intimidation or terror. For Fairey, participation in this project reflects a broader commitment to human rights, social justice, and visual activism.
David J, drawing from firsthand experience in Los Angeles, underscores the urgency of the work, citing direct encounters with brutality and its devastating consequences on families and communities. Together, the collaboration fuses music and visual art into a forceful call for accountability and reform.
A percentage of the proceeds from the limited-edition print supports the USC Gould School of Law Immigration Clinic, assisting families adversely affected by ICE enforcement actions. The artwork thus extends beyond symbolism, pairing advocacy with tangible support.

Standard operating, pushed by players like Standard Oil and its many offshoots, should be redefined as sub-standard. If we want to maintain the standard of health our planet needs to avoid catastrophe, we can't allow big oil to put profits before the planet and profits before people (as well as many other threatened species). Keep in mind that big oil, which is already very profitable, is subsidized by you, the taxpayer, for up to $50 billion per year. In contrast, renewable energy sources are subsidized for only a quarter of that amount. We need to push for change." -Shepard Fairey
