Re-Build / Re-Think is a letterpress print by Shepard Fairey created as a timed release to maximize fundraising in support of California wildfire relief efforts. One hundred percent of the profits from this edition are dedicated to carefully vetted organizations, including the American Red Cross, with funds explicitly earmarked for relief efforts connected to the Los Angeles fires. The initiative seeks to assist families and small businesses impacted by widespread devastation, with more than 12,000 structures destroyed.
The image centers on a sparrow rising above encroaching flames—a symbol of good fortune, hope, and resilience amid catastrophe. Through this visual metaphor, Fairey emphasizes not only the necessity of rebuilding what has been lost, but also the urgency of rethinking systems and policies that contribute to environmental vulnerability.
