The artwork represent a head of a decapitated man on a cushion stained with blood and it is after the painting by Théodore Géricault held in the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm
Inscriptions on plate: Lettered below image with production details: "Gericault pinxt", "Aug Danse sculpt" and "Supplément de l' Art Universel / Imp. F. Nys. Brux."
The etching is from 'L'Art Universel' (1873-1876). L'Art universel" was published between 1873 and 1876 as journal of the Societé Libre des Beaux-Arts in Brussels.
