It depicts the Battle of Rivoli, a significant military engagement fought during the Italian campaign of the French Revolutionary Wars.
Fought on January 14, 1797, near the village of Rivoli, it was a decisive French victory over the Austrian army.
The French forces, led by General Napoleon Bonaparte, were outnumbered by the Austrians under General József Alvinczi.
The victory solidified French control over northern Italy and led to the Austrian surrender of Mantua.
The battle is considered one of Napoleon's most brilliant tactical achievements, showcasing his capabilities as a military commander
