Original exhibition poster created for Jasper Johns’s show at Galería Ponce, Mexico, August–September . The poster features Painting with Two Balls, one of Johns’s most iconic and provocative works. First created in 1960, Painting with Two Balls challenged conventions of Abstract Expressionism by literally inserting two wooden balls into the canvas, breaking the surface and questioning the very definition of painting.
This exhibition poster captures that landmark image, presenting Johns’s wit and conceptual rigor in a collectible format. As with much of Johns’s work, it blurs the line between object and representation, making it a fascinating subject for an exhibition abroad at the height of his international acclaim.
