About the Item
Original poster made by Joseph Daviel de la Nézière 🇫🇷 (1873-1944) who was a French painter and illustrator. This poster was made for the French Navy to encourage the population to enlist.
Joseph Daviel de la Nézière was notably in charge of missions for the Ministry of Colonies and the postal administration, for which he produced numerous vignettes.
He exercised his artistic talent as a painter as a portraitist, landscape artist, poster artist, journalist, painted dioramas and made postage stamps for France, the Middle East and Africa.
He was also a member of the Society of French Orientalist Painters.
