C. J. (Ching-Jang) Yao, a photo-realist artist from Taiwan, creates original paintings which are contrasts between the Mondiran-like grids of the window frame and the multifold distortions given by the reflected buildings.
To those who pass such glass edifices daily, it is just another building obscuring the view. But Yao creates a masterpiece of light and color, harmony and movement; a monument to the spirit, energy and drive of the city itself.
Photo-Realism has its origins in pop art, which brought the attention of modern paintings back to the commonplace object as subject matter.
This image is a capturing a vibrant urban scene filled with advertisements and reflections. Prominent in the composition is a large Coca-Cola billboard in the background. Various signs and advertisements, such as one for a museum and another for a store, contribute to the city's bustling atmosphere. The artwork also features reflections in the glass windows, adding depth and complexity to the urban landscape depicted. Across the street, you can see busy traffic and the architecture of buildings, emphasizing the energy and dynamism of city life. The overall effect is a rich tapestry of commercialism and metropolitan activity.

Jimmy Ernst’s artwork was influenced by a number of powerful talents and vital currents in the art of his time. Son of Max Ernst, Jimmy drew upon the biomorphic and surreal compositions of his father, as well as Arp, Klee, André Breton, and Lyonel Feininger. His mature oil paintings, which emerged in the 1950s and 1960s, reflect the Atomic Age aesthetic of the period. Often, they resemble crystals or webs; many look like vast labyrinths and are interpreted as symbols of the unconscious mind.
Ernst was always interested in spirituality and drew inspiration from indigenous American art...
