This handmade serigraph captures a brilliant scene of Venice, Italy, where architecture meets water of the city's famous canal system. The artwork uses bold, thick strokes and a dramatic contrast of light and shadow. The background features a rough, textured brick wall bathed in warm, luminous orange and yellow light, overlapping recessed wall, to the left, which has a distinct, dark shadow of an arch framing circle of golden sunlight . The water is deep green and reflecting the light from above in shimmering, broken strokes of white, cream, rust and orange. A wooden post leans against the wall, further emphasizing the depth, and space of the scene, while clusters of wild green foliage spill from the upper right, adding a touch of natural vitality to the old-world urban setting. In the top, left corner, the artist applied the word "Venezia", confirming the pictured location.
This print is ready to hang in a stately black frame with gold leaf detail. It is matted with a wide, classic white matte. Glass protects the art.
About the Artist:
J. Torrents Llado (1946-1993), distinguished as a National Treasure of Spain by King Juan Carlos I, was famous his life like portraits and brilliant landscape paintings. He began his artistic education at Academia Valls and the San Jorge School, later establishing a significant career that included setting up a studio in Palma de Mallorca. Beyond his artistic creations, Torrents Lladó contributed to the art world through his role as an educator. He founded the "Escola d’Art Torrents Lladó" in Palma de Mallorca, where he taught and influenced many aspiring artists including represented artists Pep Suari, Bartolome Sastre, Borja Fernandez, and David Gamero. This school became an important institution, nurturing a new generation of artists and perpetuating Torrents Lladó's artistic legacy and techniques. His work is celebrated for its mastery of light and shadow, blending modern impressionism with a deep sensitivity to his subjects.

Joaquin Torrents Llado
Joaquín Torrents Lladó (Badalona 1946-Palma 1993) first traveled to Mallorca in the summer of 1967. A year later, he moved into Valldemossa, where he cultivated his three interests: stage design, painting and theatre. Then he moved to the center of Palma, alternating his sojourns in the Balearics with trips to Madrid, Stockholm, Florida or Venice, a city about which he was truly passionate.
