Lithograph on vélin d'Arches paper. Unsigned and unnumbered, as issued. Good Condition; never framed or matted. Notes: From the folio, Dix Reproductions, 1933. Published by Editions Jeanne Bucher of Galerie Jeanne Bucher, Paris; printed by Editions John Becker of the John Becker Gallery, New York, March 15, 1933. According to the publisher (translated from French), “This edition was printed on March 15, 1933. It was drawn in 1000 examples on vélin d'Arches, format 40 x 52 cm, with the watermark J.B. Each board was stamped at the bottom at the same initials.”
RAOUL DUFY (1877-1953) was a French painter associated with the Fauvist movement. He gained recognition for his vibrant and decorative style, which became popular in various forms, such as textile designs, and public building decorations. Dufy is most remembered for his artwork depicting outdoor social gatherings. In addition to painting, he was skilled in various other fields, including drawing, printmaking, book illustration, scenic design, furniture design, and planning public spaces. Dufy was in the milieu of Matisse and Picasso.
