About the Item

A peaceful fishing scene with Cow Tower and Norwich Cathedal in the distance. Etching with drypoint and Chine collé; Japon paper mounted to cream wove paper, 8x 10 3/4 inches (204 x 274 mm); sheet excluding matrix 10 5/8 x 16 1/4 inches (270 x 413 mm), full margins. Minor mat tone, and overall toning, otherwise in very good condition. The matrix has some minor areas of discoloration on the verso. The number "23" is written in pencil on the matrix, indicating that this work is from the series of views of Norwich published by Farren (1832 – 1912) in the late 19th century.
